Yah Mo Blog Here
Right before our move Joey started a blog to document the trip and our new experiences in Brooklyn. I've joined in blogging with him there and plan do do most of my "Brooklyn-themed" blogging there. I will of course keep up with my usual knitting banter here. If you'd like to visit the other blog, go to http://yahmobloghere.wordpress.com

7 Random Things
1. I never cry at sad movies, unless an animal dies. The only time I’ve ever proved this theory wrong was that time I watched the episode of Mad About You when Jamie and Paul almost broke up.
2. I have a scar on my right eyebrow that I fill in with eyebrow pencil everyday. I got it when I was five and tried to fly.
3. Speaking of flying, when I was twelve, I used to jump out of our tree in our backyard with an open umbrella, thinking I could pull off a Mary Poppins.
4. When I was 21 I won a radio contest that was a free trip to Miami to meet Lenny Kravitz.
5. If someone asks me what I would do if I didn’t have to work for a living, I usually come up with something that involves knitting and playing with dogs all the time.
6. I spent 5 years in college; first I studied advertising, and then nursing. I most surely have enough credits to have a bachelor’s degree, but I don’t have all the right classes to fulfill any certain degree plan. If I were to do it all over again, I would probably study veterinary medicine or English.
7. When I asked Joey to help me come up with something random about me he said, “You’re a cautious driver; you don’t make risky lane-changes.”

2007: A Year in Review
I was floored when I looked back over 2007 and realized that I have 17 completed objects, many of them being my first foray into something new. I made my first quilt, first pair of socks, first hand-dyed yarn, first sweater, and first crochet project. This year, I think I'd like to venture into fair isle, designing my own knits, and definately more quilting and sock knitting!

Panda Skillet

The moment I saw this on FredFlare.com I knew I had to have it. The moment Joey saw it, he knew I had to have it. I hinted and hinted about how I'd love to have this as a Christmas gift this year, how cute it would look on our stove, etc. I think I even resorted to saying "PandaSkillet!" really loudly and in the middle of non-related discussions. (Try saying it yourself- it's quite fun to say)

It arrived on our doorstep today, just when I was planning on making stir-fry for dinner. Joey caved and let me open it a little early. It made cooking so cute and happy and fun. Just look how cute that broccoli looks in there!

I'm completely thrilled and in love with my new Panda skillet; it will never be stored in the cabinet, just left at the ready on my stovetop.
Anyone know what this little guy is saying?

A Cozy Thanksgiving
Q: What do you get when you mix a 2x2 ribbed white scarf with a holiday that revolves around eating and sleeping?
A: Nothing interesting to Blog about!
Sorry I haven’t updated lately, but there really hasn’t been much going on. I finished the ribbed scarf I was working on and I’ll start on the matching armwarmers tonight. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and spent plenty of family time playing board games and knitting and just being completely lazy. We got a cold snap in North Texas on the day before Thanksgiving and it was nice to be able to wear warm sweaters and start a fire in the fireplace. Daisy and Henry had a blast going out to my parents’ farm; they ran around so much that they were exhausted. Then they got to play with their cousin-dogs at my in law’s house. Henry kept up his annual tradition of somehow managing to drag the turkey and platter off of the counter and onto the kitchen floor. Then Joey got to wrestle with him to get the turkey leg out of his mouth. What a sight to see!
PS- I forgot to tell you all that the mice are gone! There ended up only being two mice- the grey one and the brown one, who we got rid of that same day.

Are YOU Taking Care of Your Heart?
I received an unexpected surprise today in the mail: my friend, Kim (http://handeyecrafts.wordpress.com/) sent a hand-knitted washcloth with a red dress surrounded by a border of hearts. She also put in a little note reminding me that I'm important in many people's lives and to take care of myself. This was such a sweet surprise! (Thanks, Kim!!)
Did you know that heart disease is the NUMBER ONE KILLER of WOMEN? That's pretty intense. We need to take care of ourselves and our loved ones. The Red Dress Campaign is put on by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to try to educate women about the dangers of heart disease.
If you'd like to read more about the Red Dress Campaign, check out this site: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/hearttruth/index.htm They have tips for Heart Health, info about Risk Factors, and Warning Signs of a Heart Attack that everyone should know. Also check out Kim's site, cause she's a sweetie.

The Skies Are Gonna Clear Up, Put On A Happy Face
Today is definately winding down to be a better day than when it started. I came home to find my reveal gift from my Secret Pal 10, Kimberly of www.wovenspun.com! She sent me many lovely goodies. Let's have a closer look, shall we?
Then there's the cute stitchmarkers, bracelet and yarn cutter! (If you look closely and try to unblur my bad photography, you'll see one of the notecards she included with a cute little sheepie.)
Cute little sheepies abound in this gift- she also included some Lindor chocolates, (I love that they included the black sheep!) and a Pez (yum!) but also check out the great knitted accessories book. It has the most wonderful glove patterns in there that I know I'll find handy. And the knitticisms book will surely be a good read.
Now, I know you're thinking this is a pretty wonderful haul, right? Well, check out the HANDWOVEN scarf she made!
Amazing. Thanks, Kimberly!

CADD: Craft-Attention Deficit Disorder
I’ve surely mentioned this before, but I love reading blogs, especially crafty ones. There are only two drawbacks to this; 1) You waste all your crafty time reading about other people’s crafts, and 2) You get so inspired by all the awesome things other people are making that not only do you stop knitting the sweater you’re working on to learn how to crochet so you can have a ripple afghan, but you also end up ordering embroidery kits so you can embroider some pillow cases and kitchen towels, and then you find yourself considering learning how to make a quilt, cause you need one of those too.
I should really just unplug my computer and get to work.
